Hi Laurens. I am sure catherine will like the picture you have dedicated to her. You took this large fly with the brown wings with fine detail and natural colours. Well taken TFs.

A very nice capture with lovely details, sharpness & POV. Very nicely taken & TFS.

Hello Lou!
Thank you for this present and for this nice fly, with excellent details and beautiful colors of the wings! I never see this species... I will try to find the ID... but not easy! Give me a few time to find it...
I found it! Satyramoeba hetrusca (Fabricius, 1794), from the family of Bombylidae. Same family than Anthrax anthrax, which sent me to this species.

Hello Lou,
An excellent macro of this large Bombylid fly taken from a nice dorsal POV that shows its features with superb clarity. Nice tribute to Catherine and great that she could ID it!
Thanks and have a good Sunday,

Hallo Lou,
Mooie foto van deze vlieg, al ben ik niet zo op deze insekten gesteld. Maar dit is ook wel een bijzondere. Enorm scherp en heldere kleuren.

Gran ampliación y unos colores preciosos bien combinados con el fondo. No conocía esa especie.
Buena semana Laurens: Josep Ignasi.

Hi Laurens. Good details and contrast fotr this fly. mazing Warm colours and reflections.

Hello Lou!
In 2007 I was I Macedonia where I saw this huge fly on the bank of Ohrid lake. Since your presentation I had no idea what species it is! So first of all thank you for identification of this enigmanic species!
Picture is a little out of focus but I still like it.
All the best in 2010!
Friendly yours,
