The Elder-flowered Orchid (Dactylorhiza sambucina) is a species of orchid. Dactylorhiza Necker ex Nevski 1937, is a genus of terrestrial (ground-dwelling) plants in the orchid family (Orchidaceae). The name Dactylorhiza is derived from Greek words δάκτυλος "daktylos" (finger) and ρίζα "rhiza" (root), referring to the palmately two- to five-lobed tubers of this genus. Dactylorhiza were previously classified under Orchis which has two round tubers.

Hello Ferran,
A very nice portrait od D. sambucina, a species that we in Sweden call 'Adam and Eva' as they grow together in two forms, a pale one like this and a red-flowered form.
Excellent POV, sharpness and colours with the tiny wasp as a bonus!
Thanks and have a good week,
Ivan

Hola, Ferran,

Hola Ferran,
It is curious, that this orchid occurs in two colours, red and yellow, which frequently appear together although the red flowers tend to bloom slightly earlier than the yellow ones.

I believe, the common name refers to the flowers' slight scent, which resembles that of elder flowers.

Apparently, they are not found in the British Isles but they do occur in a number of countries in Europe.

I do like your "new" style of framing very much, emphasising how delicate the flowers are.

The juicy green foreground draws attention to the tiny maroon dots on the petals.

Beautiful work - presenting a beautiful flower.

It is an honor, that you chose me as a favorite, and I thank you.

Salutacions cordials,
Ingrid
