"Période noire in the backyard"

This seemingly nationalist presentation :-) of a Poppy flower in the Swiss flag colors and cross holds a rather innocent message: the black little things are Common pollen beetles, (Coleoptera; Nitidulidae; Meligethes aeneus (F.); Raps-Glanzkäfer; Méligèthe du colza).

Enjoy.

Hello Dietrich,

You absolutely right! First impression was that they view the flag of Switzerland. Then I read your description of what is cleared. Interesting how the combination of colors flag with nature. Original creation, congratulations.
Have a pleasant Sunday,
Adrian

Hi Dietrich

Mmmmm, to flag or not to flag. Which ever way, these little beetles are obviously
enjoying the feast of pollen that have befallen them.

A lovely macro of the centre of the flower. The multiple activities of the 17 insects
were just a bonus to round of a fine shot. Great details and lovely colours. The
beautiful presentation within a well managed composition makes this a pleasure to see.

Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Dietrich,

Hello Dietrich!
So this time a "family" of Meligethes species! Great idea to present so small but so common and also unpopular among TN members beetle species.
Bravo and TFS!
Radomir

Hallo Dietrich,

A superb macro capture of the beautiful flower with colorful details! The insect gang is very well shown :)
I like the sharpness and POV here with great natural colors. Well done composition!

best regards,
Paras

Lieber Dieter,
Anne
