Dear Friends,

Today I post an old image from my archives, from 2007, about Fomes fomentarius (L.) J. Kickx, one of the most common perennial xylophage species. Dangerous plant pathogen, causes white rot on broadleaved trees (mostly on beech).

No specific reason for uploading just this old photo today. I simply wanted to share it with You, and I hope You'll like it. Cheers, László

Good sharpness and fine natural colours.

Ciao Ladislao,
uno splendido esemplare di questo fungo a mensola, eccellente punto di ripresa per una bellissima composizione con lo sfondo di quella che sembra una faggeta, bellissima luce e colori naturali.

Hello Laszlo,
Although it's so common but you managed to catch in very interesting way, very plasic shape. These trees blurred a little add charm to this view.
Regards, Pawel

hello Laszlo
imposing scene, the background with the trees elects the size of mushroom, very good photo output!
keep photographing! TFS

Hallo Laszlo
Looking at this huge fungus, it strongly reminds me of the paw of an elephant being lift up in the air. This is indeed a fascinating subject and I find it very interesting to look at. I find the blurred trees a great backdrop. The colour and texture of the fungi is also fascinating. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.

Hello Laszlo,

This is an impressive specimen!
Fine texture and excellent details in the fungus, the DoF works very well in isolating the subject from the back...
This is a balanced composition, good light and fine natural colours!

Hi Laszlo,
this gano is very exciting. such a big size and superbs clarity.
thanks for the note that differentiate between the types of gano.

NB: I had a short academic visit to Uni of Portsmouth. It was a short one about 14 days, i missed the Nature there, as the days were short, near winter and the busy with work too.
I hope one day i will be able to see a fungi expo anywhere. it must be very exciting.
now Im back in Malaysia.
