Long-legged backyard inhabitants (3):

The colorful Cucumber spider (Aranea; Araneidae; Araniella cucurbitina (Clerck, 1758); Kürbisspinne) builds a home with the help of some threads that hold the ends of the leave together. Under the constructed rain protection the caring female guards the eggs or hatched young inside the cocoon for a while.

Don't give arachnophobia a chance, show this picture to the ladies :-)

Hello Dietrich,
A fine well illuminated macro capture of a female Cucumber Spider busy cocooning her eggs under what might be a nettle leaf.
The cuvature of the leaf, the sharpness and colours make this a very attractive composition.
Thanks and best regards to you,
Ivan

Hello Dietrich,
Fabulos Landschaften.
Grüß,
Adrian

Hello Dietrich,
Beautiful photo in splendid colours with a very good use of the flash. The dark surroundings focused well on the spider. Excellent sharpness an details. Very nice composition.
Regards,
Peter

Gut gemacht!
Herzlich grüsst und winkt Richtung Marly
