I don't have the ID of this strange butterfly, just know that this is a Nyphalid by his four legs! but I wanted to post it for you to know her in TN.

I found it in the middle of a rainforest, near of 1100 m.a.s.l. I could shot it thanks to his habit of perching on branches where the sun's rays reach. It's quite nervous, doesn't usually stay long in one place. This is only the second time I see this butterfly. The photo was taken with flash because the light was not good in the place where she stopped. It's a medium-sized butterfly, I estimate that in the position as shown in the photo should measure approximately 5 ctms from bottom to top. The two times I've seen this Nymphalid I've seen fly alone, I have not been accompanied by other individuals.

This butterfly must be having very attractive colours and patterns on its upper wings, Jesus. Next time, try to capture it in that aspect. Hopefully, some expert should be able to give you its ID.
The image is very sharp and crisp with lot of details on its nether wings.
Well done and TFS.

Ciao Jesus, altra bellissima mai vista prima, mi dispiace, non posso aiutarti con il nome, magnifico il disegno delle ali nitiudamente ripreso, splendida macro, bravo, ciao Silvio

Hello Jesús,
A fine capture of this nymphalid with its wings closed.
This species, Anaea clytemnestra, that normally keeps itself hidden has a remarkable camouflage colouring and pattern on the upper surfaces of the wings. You were lucky to photograph it so well and in such a fine position on the plant.
Thanks for sharing this fine image and its nice to have you as a neighbour!
Best wishes,

Hi Jesus.
Outstanding image of a beautiful butterfly and so wonderful plant. Both of them are reflected with highest skill at a very impressive direct POV. All is superb including reproduction of coloration of the insect and all its features. Details of the leaves are also ultimate and BG is nice and smoothed pleasantly. My kind regards and TFS. Well done.

What a interesting capture this Anaea clytemnestra!
New for me, I think is a great capture!

Very good sharpness, great details, congratulations!

Hello Jesus,
Interesting species, in very sharp focus. Good exposure despit the difficulty of the sharp contrast in wing colours. Thanks.
