Friends, here is another picture of the Common Leopard I shot during my journey to Dehradun recently. In the course of editing, I noticed that this one was better than the one I posted some days ago.

The Common Leopard, Phalanta phalantha is a sun-loving butterfly of the Nymphalid or Brush-footed Butterfly family.
The Common Leopard is a medium sized butterfly with a wingspan of 50-55 mm with a tawny colour and marked with black spots. The underside of the butterfly is more glossy than the upper and both the male and female are similar looking. A more prominent purple gloss on the underside is found in the dry season form of this butterfly.
The butterfly is found in Sub-saharan Africa and Southern Asia (including Sri Lanka and Burma).

Hello Ram,
Where would the butterflies be without Lantana!! This is a beautiful capture of the Common Leopard having been tempted there by the sweet scent! Excellent details and lovely light and colours that makes it stand out against the dark leaves.

Yes I like this one of the Common leopard butterly too Ram!
The dorsal POV taken from the rear is great and shows the features with excellent sharpness and colours with the darkened lantana BG helping to show it up to make us realise that this is indeed a beautiful butterfly.

Hello Ram,

Excellent, very beautiful colors. You're right, the focus in this picture was better than the picture a few days ago. The composition is very good and the contrast of the butterfly with a powerful green background, is very good.

Greetings, thanks for sharing!

very well done,Best regards Siggi

Dang! this is a don't touch it...it is hot as a sizzler shot Ram! It sticks out in your whole album. Perhaps it is that we get used to one such genre and then something more spectacular comes along....but no matter!
Bob

Soft illumination of the diffused lighting really enhanced this composition Ram, the not so deep DOF also finely isolated the b.fly from its immediate surroundings which resulted in an eye pleasing macro-scene.
TFS and cheers my friend,
Mehmet
