I would like to also celebrate with my manner the first year of TrekNature while paying homage to this site and his creators Adam Silverman and Robert Brown.
I am registered like member only since the 04/05/2005 and I published my first photograph the 16/06/2005. I must say that this site is certainly what there is best which can exist on the Web.
First of all thanks to the quality of page-setting of the site and to the devotion of its creators.
Then, this site has the merit to make known in the whole world the infinite beauty of our dear planet and its flora and fauna. For that, its many members put all their knowledge to make with his service.
The photographic library of Treknature constitutes the most complete mine of information which is, so much from the photographic technical point of view than of the point of the sight of the comments, often very developed, on the subjects photographed.
I am persuaded that the members of TrekNature constitute a true chain of friendship which makes the turn of the world without holding account of their religion, color of skin, social origin or political preference.
Our planet is in danger! It dies gradually because of industrialization, demography, the ignorance of the people and the war which prevails unfortunately in many areas.
The challenge of TrekNature is to make available of the world what there is moreover expensive to the individual, the Earth!

Long life with TrekNature!

To illustrate my topics, here in the form of this landscape taken in 1994 (unfortunately of poor quality), an example of the real danger which our planet runs. At the time of the release of the film "Snows of Kilimandjaro" in 1952 with Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner, the glaciers covered more half of the mount. See what it remains about it, it is edifying...!

The Kilimandjaro mount of world reputation or top of Africa culminates to 5895 Mr. Dominating the Valley Rift, being located only at 330 km under the line of the equator, this one has the characteristic not to be attached to other tops or peaks.
Enormous ecological catastrophe, the glaciers of the Kilimandjaro mount of Africa will not exist any more between 2015 and 2020.

Thank You,

Salut, Jean Patrick. Merci pour une photo qui est un bon temoignage pour la crise de notre chere planete. I agree with you that TN is a wonderful example of the positive power of the Internet, allowing people across ALL borders (physical, ethnic, or religious) to share their passion and knowledge in a constructive manner. The excellent photos on TN cannot help but raise people's consciousness about the fragile beauty and diversity of our Earth, as well as break down the walls between "us" and "them". I join you in raising a toast to our "chaine d'amitie", to our "global village", and to our unique oasis in the universe.

Hello Jean Patrick

Your word brought goose bumps to my skin and a tear to my eye! I hope that everyone who passes by TN takes the time to read your note.

Your image, as you say is not the best quality but it certainly shows a beautiful scene, but a definite lack of the view of a glacier.

Hi Jean Patrick,

Hello Jean!
Very nice landscape capture and informative note.DOF,framing and composition are excellent.

Hi J. Patrick. This is the sort of scene that I imagine African landscapes to be like. I think it must be the type of tree, and course Mt Kilimandjaro. Your notes are very informative, I was unaware of the problems with the mountain's snows, etc. So what to do?
Cheers, Janice
