Having an afternoon walk in the Victoria Park, I saw a few tame squirrels in the bushes. They approached to people in a friendly manner. Some people gave them food. It is quite lovely to see them giving some lively moment in the park. As it is early winter, the trees were leafless and not much to be seen.
These squirrels make it quite interesting to watch.

Squirrel is one of many small or medium-sized rodents in the family Sciuridae. In the English-speaking world, squirrel commonly refers to members of this family's genera Sciurus and Tamiasciurus, which are tree squirrels with large bushy tails, indigenous to Asia, the Americas and Europe. Similar genera are found in Africa. The Sciuridae family also includes flying squirrels, as well as ground squirrels such as the chipmunks, prairie dogs, and woodchucks. Members of the family Anomaluridae are sometimes misleadingly referred to as "scaly-tailed flying squirrels" although they are not closely related to the true squirrels.

In United States and Canada, common squirrels include the Fox Squirrel (S. niger); the Western Gray Squirrel (S. griseus); the Douglas Squirrel (Tamiasciurus douglasii); the American Red Squirrel T. hudsonicus; and the Eastern Grey Squirrel (S. carolinensis), of which the "Black Squirrel" is a variant. In Europe the Red Squirrel or Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is the most common native species, although the Eastern Grey Squirrel (S. carolinensis) has been introduced in some countries and has displaced the red in many areas, including most of Britain

Dear Friend,
It's so good to see another great shot of You again. Squirrels are quite common in city parks, also here in Hungary. Your photo's very nice, maybe the sharpness isn't the most excellent on the animal's face (only on the tail...) and the background became a bit noisy, but it has an atmosphere without doubt... I like it, even with the small mistakes mentioned. Tfs.
At the same time I wish You and Your loved ones a very happy 2010. Friendly regards from Hungary, László

Hello Foozi,
A nice close capture of a Grey Squirrel, an invasive introduced species that has practically ousted out the red Squirrel from the UK.
But that is not its fault! I like the pose and the catchlight in the eye taken from a fine POV.
I hope you enjoy your stay in the UK and that 2010 is a happy and healthy year for you!
Thanks and all the best,

Hi Foozi

Thanks so much for your kind and generous words on my "Flying into 2010" posting.
This friendly Grey Squirrel gave you a lovely pose and you did good work to capture
such a fine image. I actually like the close crop with only a hint of the tail to frame the
little rodent and the big highlight in the eye is special. From the camera settings I can
gather that you had very limited light to work with (probably due to the park conditions),
but you did well to capture such lovely details even considering the slow shutter speed
at 1/40 of a second. The post processing optimisation was well conducted with pleasing
colour saturation.

May you receive wonderful light on all your subjects for 2010.

Well done MF and TFS.

hello Foozi

excellent portrait photo of the Common Squirrel
(or here in North America the Grey Squirrel), with fine POV
and the way it is framed, fine focus sharpness and details,
i also love to see details of the blurred background, TFS

Happy New Year Foozi!
