[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photograph was taken with a handheld Canon Powershot D10 underwater camera by my wife Claire whilst snorkelling off a beach in Ras Al Hadd; along the western coast of Oman.

The Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas) is classified as endangered on the IUCN red list. it is found throughout the world in tropical regions and is the most common turtle nesting and feeding along the coast of Oman.

An estimated 20,000 females nest each year in the region, Oman therefore is very important to the survival of this species.

Hi Robert

Welcome to this site. I hope you will enjoy your journey here and learn lots about
nature and photography. This is a lovely shot with the streaks of light illuminating
the turtle through the shallow waters. At the angle of the shot, those front flippers
almost looks like wings, but I suppose one can argue that these creatures fly in the
water. Good details show. A little more contrast & saturation could perhaps have
increased the visual stimulus.

Well done and TFS.
