Hello Paul,
Your morning-effort was rewarded! What a fabulous light on this beautiful landscape! Like always I like the low point of view and the composition. Excellent idea to have taken these two pieces of wood in the foreground and what great reflections they give on the water-surface.
Thanks a lot and my best wishes for a successful new year.
Kind regards
Anne

Hello Paul,
Although I'm also Paul can't take such beautiful photos. First photo in New Year it's symbolic shot and wish You many perfect shots in 2010. I think that -4 degrees isn't cold because this day in the morning we had -22 degrees.
Best regards, Pawel

Masterpiece of a picture featuring the sunrise on the first day of the year 2010, Paul.
Wish you great moments like this in the new year!
The wide-angle image is sheer art especially with those two pieces of wood in the pond with their reflections on the placid water.
Thanks and regards.

Dear Paul
And the beginning is so beautiful, and I thank you as well as your girlfriend for this stunning view, because if she did not had to go to work at the time, this wonderful scenery would have been lost to our eyes. The golden tones in this landscape are incredible and fill me with admiration for your camera work and appreciation for the beautiful nature that surrounds us. We must just open our eyes to see and be grateful for it. Thanks for sharing this awesome scenery. The relaxed atmosphere you captured here is contagious. I cannot but add it to my favourites as it is a sight that will stay with me for a long time. Best regards.

Hi paul. What a way to start the new year. Its a shame you could not have shared it with your Girlfriend. It was worth waiting around for. You have captured the light just as the warm coours catch the cloud and the larger tree trunk. Everything looks so calm. Well taken TFS.

Hello Paul,
What a wonderful view to begin the new year! I love your low POV and the fantastic sky. Wonderful depth and beautiful colours. The two logs in the foreground complete this fabulous capture! I wonder if this is covered by ice and snow now?
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Paul,
A gorgeous New Year's day sunrise! The horizon and sky make up a fine BG to the composition but the pièce de resistance is the gnarled log sticking out of the water in the FG and the lighting on it is superb.
Nice one Paul!
Thanks and best wishes for 2010!

Hi Paul
Thanks for this very beautiful and serene posting of the landscape sunrise.
It really is relaxing and make you feel like you on holiday.
I really love sunrise and sunset but i have never seen one captured as perfectly as this.
The F16 aperture give the image a fine DOF with focus right into the background with the trees and make this landscape look endless.
The 1/2sec shutter speed also provided us with the perfect amount of exposure for a great sunrise such as this.
Abosulotely stunning ALL round!!!
Well done and TFS
Kind Regards
Chris

Hi Paul,
Gorgeous shot my friend - well worth the early and cold (and not yet fully sober?!) start to not only get to see this sunrise, but also to capture it so well. It's the positioning of the tree and the log that really make this - the log especially - the colours and shapes and reflection of this alone would probably have made a lovely shot in its' own right!
Stunning colours - and really nicely taken. Great work and great start to another year of fine Paul H shots! :-)
TFS,
Doug

Hi Paul,
A vefry lovely shot. I particulary like the the twisted wood in the Fg and the wonderful details it has. The mixture of the cool blues and warm yellows add a great punch to the photo. The soft fleeting light provided some wonderful soft shadows and the nicely even contrasted composition. I does look like you new camera might need a sensor cleaning job. I see some small spots that I´ve seen on previous photos.
As always wonderful high end work which show your determination to brave the temps and get the best result.
TFS,
Niwk
Hi Paul
great start to the New Year. I remember 3 or 4 years ago having a similar cold shot in Sweden on the last sunset of the old year.
I am wondering what it would be like now? It was a stunning sunset last night.
great shot and lovely colours and composition execellent as always.
Just noticed you are on the 5D when did that happen? trying to convince other half to let me have the 7D.... not getting far at the moment ;-)

Hi mate and a belated Happy New Year!!!
I wish a cracking 2010, with many superb photos taken, published and sold for a good profit ;)
You seem to have begun the year well. I really like the weather and colors i'm seeing in your latest images on your website and here, too.
The mood here is just terrific. It really does feel like the rest of the world is back home sleeping after the long party on the New Year's Eve and you're the only one walking around in the entire vast landscape.
Your composition here is also very nice. The reflected dry wood is gorgeous in this light and its texture is a lovely bonus. Further on, the bigger tree acts like a great focal point while the clouds and colors are wonderful on top and in the reflection.
Overall a stunning capture...one worth waking up early for and one that hopefully kick-started your year superbly!
Cheers and TFS

Hi Paul,
This is a fabulous landscape photo. The colours you have caught are great and they are nicely reflected in the lake along with the log, which adds great foreground interest to the image. Nicely composed.
Great capture and TFS

Hey Adam...whoops! I was thinking of Adam Burton:)...You know what I mean...
I have nothing else to say but to thank you for your care for quality. The others will take care of the details, like good lighting, colors, sharpness, DOF,POV and other technical stuff I`m not very good at.
So, I thank you and if you give me smileys I will comment on your photos:)
Cheers:)
Nelu
