Gefeliciteerd met je 4-jarige aanwezigheid hier. Bijna een jaar langer dan ik. Prachtige sfeerplaat in zachte kleuren.

Happy Trek Nature Birthday my friend. It's hard to believe we started the same day, but i would like to thank you for all the positive comments and critique you have given me over the years, your attention to detail and constant striving for perfection has given me alot of inspiration to do my best.
As we can see here, your photography has now reached new heights of excellence. The carefully thought out composition, the control over exposure and the choice of viewpoint show you have become a Dutch Master :o)
Very well done, i hope to see many more years of yor work here and perhaps one day we could meet to share a trip exploring the landscapes we love.

Not bad 4 years of photography in TN. You really have developed, remember when you started. Have myself a Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM, a very good lens for shooting landscapes.
Best regards Anders.

What a beautiful Photo to mark your four years on TN.
The light and reflections are lovely.
Great composition exposure and sharpness too.
A perfect landscape.
ps ... I finally got to ice skate on a frozen lake a few months ago. What fun!

I think we started on TN at about the same. I joined many months before I actually posted a shot. I think we were at about the same place in photo knowledge. I have learned from your methodical approach to the technical side of the hobby. I should do better. At least I feel guilty when I don't pay enough attention. "Oh, Niek is going to yell at me!!!" ... then I go ahead and take it anyway...sometimes. TN has been good for both of us.
I like your wintry scene. I love it when snow turns the ordinary into extraordinary. I often try to get starbursts with moderate success.
I think your country and western Oregon may have similar weather. Rain and fog or fog and rain, or fog, rain and wind. Yippee!!
Congratulations. It has been fun.

You showed a lot of sensibility on this image.
A precious composition, so enjoyable form every direction you look at the photo.
The simple colour palette, almost a duotone, helps to create that mood of serenity.
I like the star-like glare of the sun got with the closed aperture.
Congratulations both for this pic and for your first 4 years here in TN.

Hi my friend and a Happy 4th TN b-day!
I think we've all improved our skills and knowledge in our time here on TN and, equally important, we made some great friends in the meantime. I, for one, consider you as one of my top friends here and i'd love nothing more than to get the chance to meet you in person and go shooting together one day.
This is a lovely shot to celebrate this occasion with.
I really like the composition here - with your POV taking the viewer's eye along the channel, towards the brighter, sunny side.
The mood is cold but very beautiful - with pristine snow, nice, calm reflections and a charming blue sky on top...a gorgeous winter day if you ask me.
I see you've aimed for the biggest "sun-star" you could get, using f/22. The result is nice but after testing this lens myself i've seen that that isn't its strongest point. However, i like your effort here and it definitely adds a nice touch to the landscape here.
Overall, beautiful work, Niek!
Cheers and TFS

All my Congratulations for your 4 years of TN. I'm especially happy that -as a Lanscape-photographer- you stayed on TN.
This is a very skillful picture taken against the light and with tricky light and shadow areas. Like usual the composition is well done and the point of view perfectely chosen. A beautiful lanscape-picture making us feel the cold and crisp air of wintertime.
Mes meilleures salutations

I must say I really like this photo. It has wonderful composition and use of light in it. the reflection is great and adds to the picture nicely and there seems to be a touch of warmth in the light down the right hand side on the other bank.

First, I would like to thank you for your inspiring words on the posting celebrating my
4th anniversary. Next I need to apologise for sleeping on this image. I kept the notice
in my Outlook, because I still wanted to visit it, but I forgot that you joined the site just
6 days before me. If I remembered that, I would have realised that your posting must
have been to celebrate your 4th anniversary. But, finally I am here to commemorate
this wonderful milestone with you and to CONGRATULATE you with your excellent
performance this past 4 years. How you steadily grown into a first class photographer.
The learning curve was steep in those early days just after we joined this site. There
was so much to learn about digital photography, but you took to it like a duck takes to
water. Soon you became a master photographer in your own right and the best is that
you always ploughed all that knowledge and experience gained right back into this site
by supporting, advising, coaching, educating, contributing, recommending, exploring,
and even sometimes "reprimanding" (chuckle), but through it all you always remained
respectful and considerate. This site do have wonderful members (peoples people) and
excellent photographers, but I believe we still need more team players like you. You
have been an outstanding contributor during the past 4 years and a wonderful example
to us all. I personally hope this relationship will still continue for many years to come.
I am sure your father, Rein Bowen, are a very proud man, to see what fine person you
turned out to be.
Well done MF and TFS.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
PS. I better not forget to say something about the posting too…
A fine example of the high technical level you've attained within your much loved hobby.
This is an excellent composition with the waterway leading the eyes into this multi facet
image to discover the little island ahead where the water seemingly split, the tree on the
left that frames the image, the snow lined banks, and the clusters of trees on the other
side of the waterway. Wonderful colour saturation obtained from the slow exposure time
and the effect of your Lee filter system. And not to forget the great details achieved with
the wide DOF from the f/22 aperture. Great stuff MF. Ok, it's time a say: Amen.

Congratulations on 4 years, Niek! I really enjoy looking at your images, and I have to thank you for teaching much with your input on my work. Your shots are impressive - I salute your photographic skills and hope you'll continue to grow and help others do the same in the years to come.
Love this shot of snow/blue sky/water/and sunlight... I've been playing with this same theme of late. Great to see parallels in subject matter half way around the world!
Keep up the GREAT work, Sir. - Kelly

I'm sorry to have overlooked this fantastic wintery Dutch landscape and congratulations on your 4 years!! A really lovely composition taken in beautiful light. Excellent DOF, lovely colours and I like the cold mist in the far distance. I really wish I could go out and try some more landscape photography but if it's not snowing the light is so dull!
TFS and all the best wishes, Ulla
