...and another year has passed - today is my fourth TrekNature birthday! Time flies when you're having fun.

Thanks to each and every one of you who have commented and continue to comment on my photos. Treknature has long helped give me the inspiration and knowledge to get out there into the big wide world and to try to capture it at it's best. I continue to learn from you all.

This was taken at the beach out the back of my house just before christmas. The roads were too icey to drive anywhere this early in the morning, so my planned trip down the coast was aborted.
Instead i struck out on foot, and was gifted with a beautiful and dramatic sunrise. It's not often i walk straight home and have a cup of tea straight from shooting, so this was a particularly nice occasion for me!

Hope you like it, thanks for looking...as always :o)

Hi Paul. Well done 4 years on TN. The ice did some good that day , you may have missed this fantastic sunrise. You havetaken this from a low POV looking as if you were below the water line. I like the way the sun is refecting on the water by the rock . Well taken TFs.
Nick..

Keep the pictures comming.

Hi Paul,
Well you sure have converted this dramatic sunrise into a dramatic image.Exceptional depth and spot on exposure throughout giving a brilliantly balanced photo. What a shame - 8 points only - for such perfection.

Hi Paul,
A happy 4th TN birthday to you as well. It is funny that we both joined this site on the same day. Especially since we have a common love for landscape photography.
This certainly is a stunning photo. Not only the wonderful motion of the water in the foregrond, but also the ominous clouds getting in closer to shore. I can see that waiting was a large part of making this photo. Such a small band of clean air between the horizon and clouds must cause the never ending game of waiting for the light.
TFS,
Niek

P.S. My eagle eyes spotted a few flying birds :) and a little dip in the ocean.

Hi Paul

Well done with 4years on TN.
You have really amazed me with all the different landscapes, sunsets and sunrises you have taken.
The clarity and quality of your photos are really amazing and very inspiring to look at. This is just some of the reasons I added you to my favorites list.

Well done on your previous post that was sought the magazines.
I think it hard work that has paid off very well.

This photo excellent as usual and I love the flowing water against the backdrop of the clouds and beautiful sunset.

Stunning work and TFS
Kind Regards
Chris

Amazing scene...
TFS.

Congratuletions Paul for your 4 years!

Oana

Hi Paul,

This is a great seascape. I love the contrast between the vivid red warmth of the snow and the cold sea. Almost like what I tried to get, but a lot better as the sun was poor in mine. Great compositon and exposure.
Excellent capture

Sion

P.S. Congrats on the fourth year.

Hola amigo,
sorprendentes detalles y excelente composición...
atractivo trabajo.
saludos Paul.

Hello Paul,
Fantastic capture, very representative of your style. The placement on the rocks and the movement of the wave are very well taken. Very good use of the filter and long exposure. Congratulations for your 4 years of impressive posts. We learn a lot from you! Best regards,
Catherine

Fantastic picture to celebrate so special day Paul!
My best congratulations! I really hope that you will stay here for a long time! :> And I also hope that you will present your pictures more often :>
Photograph is really great, there is nothing to add.
All the best from Lodz my Friend!
Radomir

PS. Winter is still present in Lodz...

Hi Paul,
What an interesting effect was created with the long exposure used here.
The foam to the right of the rock makes a sort of a revolving 3D effect, in a different plane than the one of the rock and sand.
The bright yellow spot at the back works great as center of interest.
Congratulations not only for the pic but also for your first 4 years around.
Best regards,
JM

Hi Paul
Congrats on your 4 years on TN. A very atmospheric image with great depth.

Hello Paul,
Fantastic photo to celebrate your four years on TN, congratulations. This sunrise is amazing. You made a wonderful composition out of it with the water and rocks in the FG. The reflection of the sun on the water is very beautiful. And than the stunning clouds, it's if they are the smoke of the fire beneath them. A beauty!

Peter

Hi mate and a Happy 4th TN b-day!
Boy...time sure flies, huh? :) It feels only like a few months ago when we were beginning our explorations into this site and critiquing for the first time each others posts...phew :)
This is a beautiful capture from you and a lovely one to celebrate this occasion with. The weather condition here really worked in your favor and gave you that fantastic band of fluffy clouds over the hot sunset colors - the two working superbly together to add both color and texture to this lovely scene.
I also like the FG you picked here - bot to textury to burden the composition but well exposed to get the swooshing feel of the water.
Very nice work, mate. I really hope i'll get the chance to shoot some more seascape with you this year - learn some more and exchange some more impression on this terrific niche.

Cheers and TFS
Horia

HI Paul

Congrats on 4...

the hard grad has brought out the detail really well in the foreground.
I also really like the clouds on this one. the way they are backlit is wonderful.

PS - thinking about the 5D mk2 since you suggested it... would have to sell the 40D to raise the momeny for the new winde angle lens though!

Dear Paul
Congratulations on the 4 year milestone achieved on Trek Nature and what stunning, stunning and twice more stunning scenery you celebrate it with. Wow, what more can I say than wow. It certainly is a magical seascape, and only a photographer with determination and a love for what he/she is doing will get end results with excellent quality like these. This shot is perfection personified the work of an artist. The details and colours flow perfectly with the rest of the composition. This one is good, very, very good and I salute you for sharing your wonderful photographic talent with us. Thanks for sharing, and may there be many more to come. Best regards.

Hi Paul!

Well, I'm a little bit late for the congratulations, but I'm sure you don't mind. I was absent from TN for a while and it's a pleasure to discover this superb picture. Normally one gets a present when celebrating an anniversary, you do the opposite and spoil us again with a superb landscape picture!

Kind regards

Markus
