[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took these stork during a walk in Knokke on 500 m of the Netherlands border.

Storks are large, long-legged, long-necked wading birds with long stout bills, belonging to the family Ciconiidae. They are the only family in the biological order Ciconiiformes, which was once much larger and held a number of families.
Storks tend to use soaring, gliding flight, which conserves energy.
Scaring requires thermal air currents. Ottomar Anschütz's famous 1884 album of photographs of storks inspired the design of Otto Lilienthal's experimental Gliders of the late 19th century.

I hope you like it.

Hi John,
It's spring in Belgium?
Storks have returned?
How beautiful! But unfortunately the photo date is in October ...
Excellent POV the image with a BG interesting.
Have a nice day,

Ciao John, splendid bird in great fly on a wonderful blue sky, splendid colors, excellent sharpness and fine details, very well done, ciao Silvio

Hi John, this isn't truely your best pic but i know how isn't easy to take a in-flight bird, the sharpness is poor and there is a lot of noise in the sky...no problem beacuse is a great scoop to take a bird like that in flight...thanks for share, have a nice day,Luciano

Hi Jhon,
Good result taking into account the distance and light conditions. I think you used all the available optical power! ... use the TV mode is right, that allowed you to shoot at 1/2000s and achieve a good effect. I see a lot of noise in the blue sky. I guess that is normal with large increases. With a bit of PP can be eliminated (see WS).

hello John

maybe a little bit oversharpened but an excellent in-flight
shot of the stork with his dynamic flight, with very fine POV
and the way it is framed with the very good space in-front, TFS

Hello John,
a beautiful capture of the Stork in-flight, it is good, but it could be better, the composition is perfect.
Best regards

Hi John

I find these shots very diffcult to get - so well done! I have lots that I treasure just because they are my only record of the species - and this is much better than any of those! :)

Best wishes

Ciao John. Imponent but noised capture. Good light. Nice compo.

Hi John,

showed thestork well with it's details, I see the only issue nosie has been ws'd already. Besides that it's very nice, well composed and exposed. TFS!

Best regards,

Dear John!

I like your picture for its subject and the superb dynamism emanating from the bird's flight. The position of the wings is magnificent and the picture could be used for an aerodynamic study.

Unfortunately, the picture lacks of quality. There's so much noise and it also isn't sharp. I don't know if this is the result of the postprocessing or if you have cropped the picture too much.

Your gallery proves that you are a good photographer and I hope you will find out what the problem was.

Kind regards

Hello John,
The POV, composition, wing position and contrasting blue sky would have made this good shot excellent if it weren't for the noise.
So I have taken it to the WS, if you approve and made what I think are some improvements.
Thanks and kind regards,

Hello dear John,
I liked more your worshop version because the noise reduction, but the best in this image is your great composition. Congratulations.
Best wishes,

Hi John,

A superb action capture of a stork while gliding in the air. The colurs and your pov are incredible.

Slav John,
Good capture of this Stork in-flight with fine timing and great details.TFS.

Interesante trabajo de un ave que aquí por suerte tenemos en abundancia. Procesado original y diferente de la toma.
Saludos John: Josep Ignasi.

Hi John.

I'm glad to see your post here in TN. This is such a wonderful capture in flight. The spreading wings are just fabulous in perfect framing. Really nice against the spotless blue sky.

TFS and best regards,

I tend to agree with Markus on this picture, John. Though the shot is daring, there is a little bit of over-sharpening. Still, it is a good image and shows the Stork in a glorious pose in flight.
Thanks and all the best.

Hi John,
Wonderful minimalistic composition, but I'm afraid Heaven (Markus) is right about the lacking sharpness. Yes, the reason must be the significant cropping. A pity, because otherwise a great photo.
Have a nice Sunday, friendly regards, László

Hi John,
A great action moment well captured, with nice sharp image and well contrasted against the BG.

I like the crop and posture.
Yes, the quality is poor but the composition is strong.
to get around this, i did a workshop

Very good capture John. cogratulation ,TFS

Hi John, Well timed capture of this elegant bird in flight. I attempted to reduce the noise a little using noiseware program. TFS. Murray.

Hi John,

The way you placed the bird in the frame is making him to look bigger. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the stork. There is a good contrast between the colors of the bird and the colors of the sky. Have a nice day.

Hello John! Amazing stork. Wonderful flight. Fantastic dynamic shot. Perfect exposure and ideal sharpness. Well done!
