[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I thought I'd post this as a curiosity - waiting for the usual crop of cardinals, nuthatches etc. to emerge after the blizzard we had yesterday, I was amazed to see this fellow hunting for insects in a tree. He was a bit too far off to capture really well - but I had assumed thast woodpeckers went south in winter.

Hello Alan !
This is an excelnt picture of a bird I had nver seen before ! Maybe it is a bit soft, but we can still see the bird nicely enough, so it isn't a big problem for me. I really like the color of the bird, with red head and pretty markings on the back. His typical pose as well as the blue sky in the BG and the vivid colors are excellent, too. Vry well done !
