In France - or at least in the part of France where I live - Spring is still far FAR away. We have snow, ice, cold and grey weather, and temperatures never climbing above 0°C. Sometimes it can look a bit depressing, but on the other hand, if you find courage to go out in spite of the cold there will be plenty of photo opportunities.

Yesterday, when I went out with my camra, I realized everything was full of icicles. They were everywhere : on trees, on fences, on cars... It was so beautiful to watch, and I took several pictures - most are not so beautiful, but I rather like this one. It was a tiny icicle, compared to some others, but it was looking pretty, and the moss adds a ice touch of color.

If you look at the two WS pictures, you will see on WS # 1 a group of icicles, much bigger than the one on the main picture (the longest was almost 30 cm long), and on WS # 2 you will see how hard life can get for the water birds, during winter.

Anyways, flowers and butterflies are still a far-away event, so for now I have to be happy with such kind of pictures.

I hop you'll enjoy them...

Hello Valérie!

Indeed, also in my country spring is far away... and this makes me happy! I love the winter season so much! Well, that's also a reason to like your picture of this icicle. I like the simplicity of the subject very much and find it quite symbolic how the icicle connects the trunk to the moss.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Valerie . It sounds as if you are still having some cold weatehr. But as you say still worth going out with the camera. This is a beautiful picture of the ice from the wood down onto the moss. Taken with good detail and bright colours. Well taken TFs.

Hello Valérie,
I saw your 3 versions about icicles, but I never saw a natural one personaly. Anyway, you can be happy because you did a good job. Nice shots and nice note too and now I already saw an icicles by your lens.
TFS and have a nice week. Thanks for your kind comment in my last post too.
Best wishes,
Francisco

Salut Val

Hi Val,

I'd say you took a nice fantastic view from nature!
You've managed to focus in on the icicle very nicely. Nice balanced exposure too.
TFS and have a nice nigt MF!
Cheers,

Bayram

Hi Valerie,

I haven't seen an icicle last night since my one and only winter trip to Colorado. You were so lucky to find one in a nice setting like this. This might be smaller than the others but it is quite impressive and you captured it well.

Hi Valerie

Great series of shots from your cold neighbourhood. I can't imagine living somewhere where the temperature doesn't get above zero. Good on you for going out and finding beauty in the cold. I feel sorry for the poor geese, but I guess they have evolved to cope with those conditions. Good composition.

Chris

Bonjour Valérie,

Although spring's still far away, winter has its own wonder. Your pic is a beautiful play of lights and colors, a very interesting detail photo with an ice formation - a symphony of icicle. Pleasant to my eyes, and the WS photos are superb, too. Merci beaucoup.

Spring's still far from here, too, but the weather forecast says there will be around 10 Celsius degrees (plus) on the next week, so I hope... I like snowy winters, but this time I feel it was enough. :)

Friendly regards and hugs, László

Hi Valerie.
We have not any icicle this winter absolutely. You have found a very attractive even art subject and managed to create a sweet pictorial shot. Details and colours as well as vertical composition of the image are amazing. Thanks a lot and best wishes.
Alexei.

Hello Valerie,
A perfectly composed image showing the wonderful art work that nature produces. Love the fine detail and great exposure you managed to capture. I certainly hope spring will soon arrive in your area, it is just now starting to get a little nicer here in Ohio.
Ron

Hello Valérie,

A lovely detail from nature!
When walking around it is important to keep eyes open, as there always are so many interesting details to observe (and photograph for that matter)...
This is a pleasant still life, well framed with good details!

Greetings,
Pablo -
