[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Spiders in this Uloboridae family do not have poison glands. They capture prey only rely on wrapping by silk. They build small incomplete orb web, mostly horizontal, usually not as perfect as those built by spiders in other web building families. They use different type of silk, known as cribellate silk which is woolly appearance.

Philoponella species
(possibly Philoponella congregabilis as shown on the Morwell National Park website)

Body length:
female: about 5 mm
male: about 4 mm

This species builds its web among green leaves and probably elsewhere as well

Lacking venom glands, all uloborids must be considered harmless to humans

Hello Des,

Perhaps a little bit difficult for to see the young spiders, but a nice contrast picture.
The nature gives not always what a photographers would like.
Very well done, TFS.

Have a nice weekend,

Hello Des,
A fine macro of this spider and its spiderlings in the web. The use of flash has provided both a fine dark Bg and helped to illuminate the subject with nice sharpness.
Thanks and best wishes,
