I'm sure you know this fellow well for this is very common in many countries and quite common here on TN ;)

Why "at last"?
Well, I tried to take such shot since the beginning of summer but never managed to find a good model.

First of all I didn't know where to look - now I found out that the best place seems to be the field covered with oats, barley, rye or wheat or a meadow covered with high grass. Many fellows from Blues family often spent the nights and cold days there and where it's getting warmer they climb the plants to bask in the sunshine.

OK, so I knew where I can find them, but that didn't solve the problem. I still didn't have the shot cause when I found any fellow he was usually sitting with the wings closed. So I was waiting with hope he will open them and show the beautiful vivid blue colour.
What were the results?
Well, Blue usually flew away and I stayed with plenty of photos of Blues that aren't even blue ;)

But, I have it at last :)
The photo've been taken after the rain. The Blue was basking in the sunshine. He was quite restless and I was afraid he'll fly away ... and he did, but luckily I managed to take some shots before it happened.

So this is my first photo of Common Blue with the wings open. I'm very glad to have it, but I must say I'm not fully happy with the exposure.

Such a lovely photo. I love his hairy body.
I like the backgound and the colours they contrast nicely with the butterfly.

Congratulations Monika :-)
Very hard to capture with opened wings, very shy and maximally annoying ;-) Try to find horsemint - should be full of these butterflies. About photo - great work. Very arty - I like contrast between blue Blue and brown BG.

His body looks like blue fur Monika. It's so pretty, and I'm so glad you captured it too. Your patience paid off. The irridescent wings are so sharp and the details and colours are superb. Well done, and thank you.

Monika, from top to bottom: firstly, I like the title; secondly, I like the picture.

Nice contrast between the main subject and the bg.

Dof, pov and sharpness are great too.

The butterfly is landed upon something which is similar to your "signature".

Hello Monika, unusual POV for a butterfly, we can't see it's head but I think it works well. The details are fine and good colour nad exposure. The composition is very nice. Well done.

Hello Monika, Well composed and a unique POV..Good colors, details and exposure. I think from my experience, shooting butterflies can be the most exasperating experience there is.. Well done!

Hi Monika

really nice. Well done

Nice blue and fragile, what a soft portrait, wonderful !

You know, Moni, its honestly such a pleasure to just browse to your photos, there isnt much room for mediocrity in your art (please let me call it art, I know you might be a little shy about that! ). I donnot want you to think I am trying to tickle your fancy too much neither would I like you to let it go to your head too much but with one hand on my heart and my hat is off to you for that, you are a very prolific and very consistently high quality photographer.
