Artocarpus altilis (Breadfruit)
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [French]|
Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg is a majestic tree from Moraceae family. Two varieties are clearly identifiable:
variety with seeds, Artocarpus altilis var. seminifera , submitted in this photograph, whose leaves are medium cut, fruit covered with spines of a soft consistency, and contain seeds.
The Caribbean call it chestnut. Its seeds are brown and elongated. They are used when boiled. They are also used to stuff the Christmas turkey or embellish a pork stew: it is rather the equivalent of our European chestnuts.
varieties without seed, Artocarpus altilis var. non seminifera, are generally called breadfruit tree. Its leaves are more deeply cut, the fruit is not covered with spiny protuberances and do not contain seeds. The general habit of the tree is deemed to be more elegant than its cousin.
The fruit of the breadfruit tree is traditionally boiled and then cut into thick slices that are cooked on a coal fire, or in an oven. The interior of the fruit, tender as fresh bread crumbs, a little different flavor of bread wheat, with an aftertaste of artichoke.
The photography has been taken in midmorning, a sunny but slightly overcast and with a significant wind.
Given these conditions, the camera was set to aperture priority mode with a large aperture (f/2.8) on a sensitivity of iso-200 in order to have a speed shooting fast enough to avoid the "blurring" due to the wind. The speed was calculated to 1 / 340 th of a second, with a focal length of 13 mm.

Very interesting photo. First of all the fruit's unique, at least rarely seen here on TN, secondly, the sharpness of Your pic scratches like razorblade! It's simply fantastic. Like the warm color tones - practically You mostly have green on Your pic, but it doesn't get boring. Clever use of the technique, great camera settings. Nice job, mon ami, bravo.
