J'ai été très impressionnée par l'étrangeté de cet oiseau...Quel curieux attribut!!!

Ces oiseaux s'appellent entre eux tandis qu'ils se déplacent en bandes. La plupart des calaos mâles ont un casque surmontant leur bec. Certains de ces casques sont solides, comme c'est le cas chez le calao casqué. Mais la plupart de ces casques sont légers et spongieux, et l'on pense qu'ils servent de boîtes de résonance.

These birds are called them while they travel in packs. Most hornbills males have a helmet surmounting their beaks. Some of these helmets are solid, as is the case with the helmeted hornbill. But most of these helmets are light and spongy, and we think they are boxes of resonance.

Great first post. The hornbill is sharply focused and our attention is riveted on the helmet. Interesting adaptation and the first of this species that I have seen. Thanks for sharing.

Quel oiseau bizarre.
J'en ai vu de très semblables sur l'ile de Borneo cette année et ils ont un appel qui porte loin car le son est raisonné dans ce compartiment au dessus du bec.

Je n'ai pas de photo car ils étaient en cage, alors merci de partager cette image avec nous.

j'avais remarquée cette superbe image il y a quelque jours, mais je n'avais pas trop le temps pour écrire des critiques, je me rattrappe aujourd'hui,
cet oiseau est extraordinaire et l'image est très nette surtout son plumage noir, ce n' est pas facile en pleine lumière,
magnifique portrait d'un oiseau pas souvent vu sur TN
