Dear Friends!!!
Last time was a very busy period for me, and as a result of that I was not able to present some new pictures in TN-gallery and to look at your beautiful photographs. Fortunately the beginning of May looks "not so bad" so I really hope to be here much often :>

Today I would like to present you really one of my the most recent pictures, this one was taken just a few days ago :>

This is Rhaphigaster nebulosa (Linnaeus 1758) a member of family Pentatomidae (Hemiptera: Heteroptera). This is the only one species of this genus known from Europe.

Body size: 14-16 mm, females are bigger than males

Distribution: European species, known mainly from central and eastern regions of the continent. Introduced to North America.

Habitat: prefers edges of forests but known also from parks, even in big cities

Activity: from spring to late autumn, diurnal active species

Reproductive biology: feeds on broadleaved woody plants but occasionally it sucks on dead insects too. Reproduction period is a late spring when single females sticks around 40 eggs in lines or discs on different parts of plants. The nymphs hatch vary in colour and are flightless. Wing stumps are only recognisable after the third nymphs stage. It has only one generation per year. Adults overwinter on walls covered with ivy.

All the best all of you! :>

Hi Radek,

Nice to see you after a relatively long:) break!
Impressive capture of this pentatomid which i have never seen before. The focus looks nice and precise. The details and patterns seem to stand out well!
TFS and have a nice Sunday MF!

Hello again Radomir, and thank you indeed for this excellent study of a pentatomid under excellent lighting which finely demonstrates the typical pitted/etched look of its body and wing tops. The precisely focused image of the bug on the refreshing green leaf is a pleasure to behold.
