Orange-Bellied Flowerpecker (Male)
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
Size: 9 cm
Male is unmistakable. Note its bright orange under parts and bluish head and wings. The female is a plain olive color, with a yellow tinge on the lower belly.
A frequent metallic chick.
An adaptable forest bird found in dense wooded areas, often near lowland primary rainforest. Usually seen along disturbed edges of forest, logging trails and in nearby cultivation. It moves across the whole strata of the forest in a fast, jerky flight, feeding on small fruits and nectar. The nest is a tiny pouch with a side entrance, suspended from a twig in a tree.
A common resident breeder throughout Singapore.
