[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello Friends.After a long break I'm here again and I brought a lots of things in my basket. I will share them with you day by day.

This is the first one: Verbascum yurtkuranianum from Scorphulariaceae, I took it near Bursa. This is very special species. Because this is the newest Verbascum species in my country. It is represented with 235 species and 126 hybrids in Turkey, and 198 of the species are endemics. This one is endemic to Bursa Province.

I decided for dedicate to my dear friend Ori Fragman Sapir from Israel. He is evrery time very kind and the best Botany Scholar who I know. I hope he will like.


Plant Height
: 90-107 cm.
Stem: Angular, sulcate, simple or brached
Basal Leaves: Ovate-oblong to broadly ovate, crenate, 6-15,5 x 2-6,5 cm
Cauline Leaves: Ovate to avate-oblong. Cuneate or broadly cunaeate at base, prominenly long-acuminate, entire, 3-6 x 1-2 cm.
Inflorescense: Unbrached or brached, cylindirical, lax.
Bracts: Smilar to cauline leaves but smaller, entire long-acuminate prominently longer than calyx, 10-15 mm.
Pedicel: 4-7 mm, ebracteolate.
Calyx: 6-13 mm, 2 lower lobes ovate-lanceolate others narrower.
Corolla: Purple, 15-20 mm diameter, sparsely glandular outside, lower lobes white with purplish lines, emarginate at apex.
Stamens: 2 posterior filaments wooly at base and half apex glabrous, anthers decurrent, 4,5-5 mm.
Capsule: Densely glandular, broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, 5-7 x 6-6 mm.
Flowering time: May-June
Distribution: The new species is endemic to northwest Anatolia known only from tyoe locality. The population is not in a good condition and approximately 25 stands are present in the distribution area. It is threatened by agricultural activity.
Habitat: It grows in open places and along roadsides, up to 700 meters altitude.

This unique plant was discovered by Prof. Dr. Gönül KAYNAK from Uludag University and was named by her. Yurtkuran Mustafa is previous Rector of Uludag University.

bir aydır ben de yoktum sitede. epey bir aradan sonra harika fotoğraflarını tekrar gördüğüme sevindim Fevzi. rektörün adına verilmiş çok çok güzel çiçekleri olan bir bitki. son derece güzel bir yakın çekim ile bizlere sunmuşsun. renk, fon, pozlama ve netlik gibi kadraj seçimi de çok güzel ve başarılı. eline sağlık dostum. selamlar.
