hello friends, there is a strong againts daylight
(fort contre-jour) but it is a photo that i love
very much, shot yesterday at the biggest pond
of the Nature Park not far from my home

from the All About Birds website

« Mallard pairs are generally monogamous,
but paired males actively pursue forced
extra-pair copulations. Copulation between
members of a pair usually takes place in the
water after a long bout of elaborate displays.
Forced copulations are not preceded by displays,
and several males may chase a single female
and mate with her.

Mallard pairs form long before the spring
breeding season. Pairing takes place in the fall,
but courtship can be seen all winter. Only the
female incubates the eggs and takes
care of the ducklings. »

Merci

Asbed

Congratulation!

Hello Asbed friend
Certainly, the glare was very difficult to handle, but you've make this good; the photo almost "silhouettes" this beautiful family, and at the same time, I can view details of plumage.
It's an interesting photo from the optical standpoint, pretty from the human point of view, and exciting from the naturalistic point of view.
Good work friend Asbed, greetings and thanks for sharing. Happy day!
Jesús

Hi Asbed,

It's nice to see the whole family out for a swim, even though the daddy duck might not have had his heart entirely in it -- I read in Wikipedia that the drake usually leaves the hen after she lays her eggs. Is this the same mother as before? If so, she is two ducklings shy. Perhaps, they're just exploring somewhere. Your photo shows a nice moonlit effect. I see that you used a flash. Presumably, the duck family was in a shaded area. If you were beyond 8-10 feet away, the flash probably wouldn't have provided sufficient light -- at least, my flash wouldn't have. In any case, the scene is great, and I enjoyed viewing it. TFS.

Regards,
John

Bonjour Asbed,
The lighting and composition make this an attractive image!
The sharpness against the light is excellent and the low side lighting gives the image a special character.
Thanks and best wishes,
Ivan

Bonjour Asbed,

Les reflets sur l'eau sont des atouts ŕ la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs de la famille de canards colverts. Une bonne gestion de la lumičre qui rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Pierre
