Friends, I moved to Jammu city in the State of Jammu and Kashmir on May 12. I have now taken over as the Principal of a large senior secondary school in this city in the Himalayan foothills. At this time of the year, it is a very hot place with tempratures soaring around 40 degrees. The school closed for summer vacation on May 22, so I too proceeded on a 10 days vacation to my native place in Himachal Pradesh just about 4 hours away by road. Here is the first picture from that trip which I am posting from Jammu -- my new place of residence. You have seen these mountains earlier too; I just can't resist shooting them whenever I see them.
These low mountains are an extention of the Pir Panjal range to the south of Kashmir valley. They form the Lesser Himalayas and do not exceed 20000 ft by way of their height.
Hope you like them.

It's been quite a time Ram!
Welcome back!
A fine Himalayan landscape shot. They say that returning to where one lived before is usually a cause for disappointment, but I cannot belive this is the case when you moved back to your home area. It must be paradise compared to Delhi! It certainly looks like it when viewing this fine well composed scene.
Thanks and best regards to you,

Namaskar Ram Sir,
Wonderful Landscapes Picture. Beautiful colour, contrast and sharpness of Snow and mountain. Nice POV.

Hello Ram,
Very nice to see a picture from your new home-region. I can feel that you are happy there and I undestand well your love for the impressive mountains. I haven't been so often back to my mountains this year, it is just too cold here and I hope that I will be able to return too soon.
Kind regards

Hello Ram Sir,

This is really beautiful...you can't resist shooting them, and we can't resist seeing them. Infact, I happen to visit Manali in May, 2010, and I also couldn't stop myself capturing the beauty of Himalayas. I kept on thinking of meeting you some day in Noida, and you have moved to Jammu, my hard luck.

Hello Ram,
a very beautiful mountainscape, wonderful view with splendid natural colours.
Best regards
