[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I know some people don't like when some photo on TrekNature depicts a human being (or part of it). Despite that, I decided to post this.

It was a scorching Sunday afternoon when I took this photo.

Caio, who is Carlos’s brother (in the photo, the butterfly is having a chat with Carlos), invited me to know their father’s farm. I was “chasing” this butterfly and they were around. Little by little, the insect allowed me to get closer and closer. I have several macros of it. We were even kidding, saying the butterfly was enjoying stardom.

So Carlos decided to come closer and put his finger next to the butterfly. It didn’t fly away. Instead, feeling comfortable, it soon allowed Caio to take it too.

Therefore, we and the butterfly became good friends, and it’s good to invite our friends to know our home. That’s what Carlos and Caio did. The butterfly left the place where it was and joined us. Caio, Carlos and I walked some 100 meters, and, then, the whole family could take pictures with the butterfly. I also have several shots of it with the other members of the family. After that, the butterfly remained with us for a while and went away.

If you want to check other photos of the butterfly, please refer to www.treknature.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo7497.htm and www.treklens.com/gallery/South_America/Brazil/photo23751.htm

Gostei bastante de sua foto, livios, diferente de sempre se ver uma borboleta em um ramo de arbusto ou folha... A profundidade de foco esta perfeita e a composição tb, e olha que é dificil em situações como essa compor legal...bastante nítida. Parabens

Livio, Excellent finger-tip details ;-)
Very sharp with great colors and control of the light..Catchy title, I like it! Well done.

Excellent shot, Livios.
The details are fantastic. Excellent work.

Ha, ha, good photo and good story Livio! This must be very brave butterfly! And beautifull, even its outer surface of wings looks amazing and so colorfull. I like your post and I hope you'll write notes like today more often :-)

Really nice pic!! I think the light conditions must have been hard but what you made of it is nothing short of amazing.

From the looks of it and the brightness of the red patch on the outside of the wings, I'd say that it is a Vanessa atalanta (here)except for the yellowish body. Difficult to ID, that is for sure!

Edit: ah no, it is a species not common to Europe but to America: the American Lady or Vanessa virginiensis ... oh well, I was close :D

Nice shot Livio,
Good sharp detail and good POV. Nicely exposed and superb colours. Good composition.
Well captured, thanks for posting.

Hello Livio,

A beautiful butterfly and wonderful note!

Brazilian creatures must be friendlier than our Canadian species, as I cannot even get this close to a butterfly without it flying off.

Well done on the photo and I don't mind the hand at all.

Great detail in the fingerprints as well as your new found friend.

Thank you for sharing.

Hello Livio, I don't mind the odd human hand in a photo as long as it is tasteful :-)

This is great as it shows us the size of the butterfly (unless you have abnormally sized hands!) You've done well here with this one - you've given the insect character! It looks like she is grateful for your help.

Great shot Livio.

I like the story to go along with your photo! And I think that, in this case, your hand in the photo is a nice "touch". Very nice details captured.
