[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
hello friends, 3 days ago i talked to you
about a very big Wood Duck family with 17
ducklings (what a photographer friend told me)

3 days ago i did a photo of them with 15 ducklings,
but for me being not TNable i decide to not post

our friend Jesùs wrote me : « I would like to see the
photo of mother duck, with the 15 ducklings ...
no matter what you do not seem "TNable"... »

so that photo will be the one in the Work Shop

and yesterday having done another photo of them
this time on the photo they are 16 ducklings !
it is the photo of this post, on this image they are
passing by a stream from one pond to the other

why i consider this one TNable and not the one
that it is on the Work shop ? because on this
photo all the ducklings are in a roll following
their Mommy, in the one of the Work shop they
are escaping they are not in row behind Mommy

from Hinterland Who's Who website

« The Wood Duck is not the only
cavity-nesting duck found in Canada.
The Common Goldeneye, Barrowís Goldeneye,
Bufflehead, and Hooded Merganser share this habit.
In some parts of Canada the breeding range of each
of these species overlaps with that of the Wood Duck,
resulting in some competition for nesting sites.
However, differences in habitat and in the kind
of nest site selected usually reduce this competition.

The female Wood Duck breeds when one year old.
She lines the nest with down, or fine feathers,
taken from her breast, and lays eight to 15
dull-white to cream-coloured eggs. She incubates,
or keeps the eggs warm, for 28 to 30 days until
they hatch. During unusually cold weather, or if
the female is away from the nest for an abnormally
long time, incubation may require a few extra days. »

Merci

Asbed

I was expecting this picture! (well, really the picture in WS) ... congratulations! ... I call this "knowing how to populate the world!" ... is a fantastic view of this growing family! this is one of your pictures with more life and natural sense! There is no doubt that you gives us excellent views of nature!

I am proud to have proposed you to post the photo, even if placed in the WS! But this original photo is even better! I am very grateful that you have placed this! ... both are made with great sensitivity by nature!

Regards, TFS. Jesús

Hi Asbed
Waw...what a great shot! 16 little?
Wonderful!
Mariana

I'ts a joy to see this large, happy family!!! thank you for sharing it to us... If you would have a polarized filter it would be great. It would "cut" that bright reflection of the water. But you show us natural colours, great composition, and what a subject!!! Just like children in kindergarden!!! Two by two!!! Amazing!
Congratulation!

Hello Asbed,
A fine capture of this large brood of Wood Ducks.
I like the POV and the composition with the natural surroundings that include the stream and vegetation. Looks like she has more than average number of ducklings!
Thanks and kind regards,
Ivan

Lucky capture Asbed. I've never seen 16 ducklings from one mother. That's a beautiful Wood Duck mommy too. Well done Asbed. Nice to see you were in the right place at the right time. I wonder if you carry bread with you? They all look like they're after food. LOL TFS Trevor

Good morning MF Asbed,

A romantic and lovely scene indeed:) Good use of differential or selective focus. You've done well to keep all ducklings with their mum in such sharp focus.
TFS and have a niceday MF!

Hi Asbed,

Lovely shot! I had never seen so many cygnets with the mother duck. Very well captured. Nice shot showing the perfect habitat for this family. I liked your composition!

Kedar

Bonjour Asbed,

La prise de vue permet de voir les dértails et les couleurs du canard branchu femelle et des seize canetons qui sont à sa suite. La rive aide au cadrage de l'image. La lumière a un bel effet sur les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.
