[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Melanargia galathea (the marbled white) is a common butterfly in Switzerland. It lives in relatively dry grasslands, with a slight preference for higher altitudes.

It is not yet threatened but the habitats it lives in are.

Females have a strange behaviour when laying eggs. They does not choose the plant on which the larves will develop but rather randomly drop their eggs anywhere during flight. It could be a good way of dispersing...

Bonjour Fabien et bienvenue sur TN.
Merci de nous faire connaître ce papillon, et ce n'est pas toujours facile à photographier.
J'aurais préféré une présentation avec moins de détails autour du sujet principal. Une chance que la fleur participe «au focus». Notre oeil est vraiment attiré par ce beau contraste. Félicitations. Revenez.
