Today, I visited a small pond in the southern Ruhr-district with numerous dragonflies in numerous species.
The one shown was among the dominant Anisoptera. Its name is
- Libellula quadrimaculata
- family: Libellulidae

Two hours ago I heard that the pond will be eliminated together with all the beautiful organisms living there!

Hello Peter,
Certainly, you are a master of optical efficiency! ... I never tire of admiring the skill! ... Excellent capture with a controversial approach, we can see perfectly the body of the insect, although the wings are out of focus. It's almost like stooping to look closely at this dragonfly! Excellent photo!
It is a pity they have removed the pond! ... that's life!
I guess for some reason about town planning, or for sanitation of the area. In my country, authorities often remove some ponds and small lakes to minimize the breeding of insects that transmit diseases such as "Dengue", But that happens in the tropics, I do not believe in Germany!
Greetings, Jesús

Hello Peter,
Exceptional capture with razor sharp details and wonderful natural colours.
Perfect focus on the body and legs. Superb sky and composition. Nice POV.
The authorities move some ponds also in my country. They don't protect the natural habitat of many species of birds, fish and insects.

Ciao Peter, fantastic dragonfly against a beautiful blue sky, wonderful metallic colors, splendid sharpness and superb details, very well done my friend, have a good Sunday, ciao Silvio
