Hello,

First of all apologies to those I still didn't write back - one day's so short! But I don't forget it, I promise, even if I'm a bit in delay.

Now, when the Football World Cup is over, it's time to return to our "normal" lifestyle, so I return to my beloved fungi also. This time I'd like to show You Lentinus tigrinus, a species very common in Hungary in softwood forests near the rivers. Typical lowland species - I only found it once in the low montaneous area where I live. Mostly growing on willow (Salix spp.) or poplar (Populus spp.), usually in big clusters, rarely alone. Also on stubs almost covered by the swamp. Edible when young (only the caps, not the stem), but I never tried it yet.

Photo was taken in spring 2009, near Sárospatak city, in the swamp of Bodrog river (nomen est omen: the city name means "muddy water" in English), on a trip with my class-mates from the fungi course. Due to the fungi were deeply in the swamp, I had to use 12x optical zoom (420 mm equiv.). On the workshop You can see the whole scene, without zooming. PP: moderate cropping, slight sharpening, noise reduction, framing, signing, re-sizing.

I hope You'll like these swimming fungi, thx for Your comments.

Hello Laszlo friend! Good to see again photos of your beloved mushrooms! In this picture is very particular environment (after all, is not unusual -for me, at least- to see fungi floating near the water!)... you have chosen a perfect POV and exposure balance right, achieving precise details without burning the surface clear of these organisms. Good job!
TFS, Regards, Jesús

Hello László,
An interesting species of fungus well portrayed in its wet habitat and substrate, a water-logged log. The top of the hats are well shown with fine sharpness and details to be set in a nice composition with a good DOF.
Thanks and thanks for your kind words on my 700th!
Best wishes to you and your family.

Ivan

Hello Laszlo MF,
a good perspective of these white fungi on the dark background. Nice details and excellent view of the surroundings too.
I like your diagonal composition.

regards,
Foozi

Ciao Ladislao,
una splendida immagine in questa particolare atmosfera di una zona umida di sottobosco, i funghi riflettono la poca luce come piccoli specchi rotondi, molro bella la prospettiva lungo il tronco, come sempre interessante l'aspetto scientifico.
Grazie e complimenti
Buona serata
Maurizio

Szia Baratom Laszlo,

Hi Laszlo.
I like very attractive idea of the image and attractive diagonal composition of the shot. Combination of dark surroundings and light caps of the mushrooms is looked perfectly. DOF is excellent too. The transmission from sharpness to some blurriness are very nice and pleasant for look. TFS and beat wishes.
Alexei.
