My travels in Turkey:

In the scenic Bitlis valley of Eastern Turkey (see "Map") I found hundreds of these colorful, flightless Tettigonids in a pine forest. Here a male and a female are wondering about each others different anatomy :-).

ID: On the Net there is a checklist of all Turkish Orthoptera by Prof. Mustafa Ünal of Bolu (www.members.tripod.com/Cesa88/orthtr.htm) but my-o-my it's long (622 species)! The author helped me for ID: it's Uvarovistia satunini (Uvarov, 1934), a species known from Eastern Turkey (and maybe elsewhere). Thanks a lot, Prof. Ünal!

And why does a travelling cyclist get into a pine forest: to take a nap, of course!

Lieber Dieter,

Hi Dietrich.
What a full of attractive object scene. I also like its 3d-looking. Superb details of tiniest things as well as nice natural colours and lights. Your camera works great in your hands (exactly as others). Best wishes.

Nice detailed top-shot Dietrich. The natural environment seems to add well here with its earth tones & complimentary color.
Two is not a crowd in this case ;)
Have a great weekend my friend!

Hallo Dieter!

As liebs Grüessli

Ahhh... thanks to you i learn something about of the insect fauna of this amazing country MF Dietrich. Perfect presentation of this couple with great POV/DOF and awesome details.

Hello Dietrich,
Great capture of this couple of Tettigonids. Colours are very nice. There is a king of smile :) on the back of the female! I hope they let you take a nap... because this family is quite noisy! Have a nice weekend,
