Another Hoverfly for my collection of Hoverflies of Belgium.

Cheilosia illustrata Harris, 1780 ♀

It is a common European hoverfly with more hairs than most of the members of this genus. It has a dark spot on the wings and hairy eyes. The abdomen is hairy and red-tipped. It has long white hairs at the shoulder and under the scutellum.
It is usually seen on umbellifers, particularly hogweed flowers (Heracleum sphondylium), along glades, tracksides, hedges, etc. and are a typical component of the mid-summer fauna of hogweed flowers.
The larvae have been found in the large rootstocks of Heracleum sphondylium.

Hello Catherine,
A fine capture of this species of Hoverfly Cheilosa illustrata, another I have yet to see, as it is found in S. Sweden.
Nice composition on the white flowers against a clean BG and good focusing on the head and thorax with excellent sharpness.
Thanks and have a good Sunday,
Ivan
