The Orchard Ermine (Yponomeuta padella) is a lepidoptera from the family Yponomeutidae, the Ermine moths. The wingspan ranges from 19 to 22 mm.It is also known as the Cherry Ermine.
The flight time ranges from July to August. The moth is attracted to light.
Similar species (also destructive pests):
• Apple Ermine Moth (AEM) Yponomeuta malinellus
• Bird-cherry Ermine Yponomeuta evonymella
The family Yponomeutidae are known as the ermine moths, with several hundred species, most of them in the tropics. The larvae tend to form communal webs, and some are minor pests in agriculture, forestry, and horticulture. Some of the adults are very attractive. Adult moths are minor pollinators.

A fine capture of this species of micro Ermine moth, one of several that are difficult to ID. The sharpness of the head and upper part is excellent and the ligt reflection on the eye fascinating.
