Plegadis falcinellus (Glossy Ibis) [in Turk. Çeltikçi

Here you can see three shots (two in WS: one in-flight pair and one resting pair) of this beaıtiful bird which I captured them in Manyas Bird Paradise (Balıkesir).

The glossy ibis is about 60 cm tall with a wingspan of about 88–105 cm. It has a long, dark gray bill that is curved down. It has dark purple to black feathers on its head, neck, back and belly. Its legs are long and black and its wings and tail are a shiny green. In breeding season the glossy ibis has rusty-red feathers and a pale blue line around its face.

This is the most widespread ibis species, breeding in scattered sites in warm regions of Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and the Atlantic and Caribbean region of the Americas. It can be found in a variety of wetlands including marshes, estuaries, coastal bays, flooded fields and swamps. It probes in the mud and silt with its bill looking for prey like the fiddler crab, crawfish, insects and small snakes.

It lays three or four eggs in a nest of twigs and sticks. The nests are usually built in trees or bushes but are sometimes built on the ground. They build their nests in colonies that include the nests of other ibises as well as the nests of other species like egrets and herons. Occasionally, the glossy ibis will use an abandoned snowy egret nest. The glossy ibis is very territorial during nesting. The eggs take about three weeks to hatch. The female and male incubate the egg, but the female does most of the work. Both parents feed the chicks. The chicks fledge in about a month. They leave the nest and start to forage for food with their parents when they are two months old.

You can find more detailed info on the species from here! I am dedicating these three posts of this beautiful ibis to one of my beloved and heartfelt friends on TN, Asbed (CeltickRanger) from Canada. Hope you can like these beauties:) MF!

TFL and have a nice day!

Hello Bayram,
Fantastic photo of this Glossy Ibis in very beautiful warm colours, exceptional sharpness and a very attractive pose. Great low POV, DOF and composition. At this moment there aren't WS photos. Look at these later.
Regards,
Peter

Hi Bayram Bro,

Today we are neighbors again! This is a lovely capture of the glossy Ibis. This bird is also seen in India :). I had posted one of its shot earlier.

this is classic capture with super wings span showing the gloss on its feathers. Nice lovely ibis beak and good spacing in the front. Very nice shot! Congrats!

Kedar

Hi Dayi,
A super sharp capture of this one, nicely positioned.
I particularly like the background. It's well blurred and there's no competition with your subject.
TFS and warm regards from London.

Hi Bayram.
It is great luck to picture so beautiful bird at so impressive pose and nice surroundings. I like it a lot. Exposure of the image is spot on. Despite the dark colouration of the bird all shades are reproduced precisely. Coluration and blurriness of the water plants and BG at whole are great too. Thanks for WS. They are very informative. Excellent work. TFS and best wishes.
Alexei.

Hello Bayram
another great picture of bird, sharp details and light fantastic. A nice image and a very difficult click . Tanks for sharing. Greetings, Paolo

Ciao Bayram, great dedication to our friend Asbed, beautiful WS too, splendid natural colors, superb sharpness and fine details. very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

Merhaba hocam,
Selamlar,
Ömer.

Hello Bayram,
Great capture of this shy bird. I'm sure it was not easy to approach him. The colours are excellent. I like the WS too. I saw some of them in April in Samos, but I couldn't take a photo. İyi akşamlar sevgili arkadaşım,
Cathy

Bonsoir mon ami Bayram,

Hi little bro,

another great image and this time from an bird.
Good low pov and details.
Fine colours.
Beautiful pose from the Ibis with the wings.

gert

The Ibis has its place in history, symbolism and more. Is it not Egypt which used to revere this bird? Well yes or no, it is not a bird pictured very much on TN. Just look at the colour of its breast. As usual sir you have done well.
Bob

hello Bayram

i am not very active in TN the last days, they are days i don't
come view photos but they are also days i come to view like
today but with out giving critiques, but today when i saw
these photos dedicated to me i said i have
to give critiques today and not just view photos
and specially to this photo with telling you merci

thank you very much Bayram for your dedication
of these 3 shots of the Glossy Ibis to me, i love them 3
but you know my preference goes to the one in-flight,
but i love the 3 photos (the other 2 also) because on each
photo there is a dynamism with the wings open

again merci beaucoup Bayram for the dedication

Bayram hocam muhteşem fotolar. En çok da gagasını ve renklerini sevdim çeltikçinin.
Emeklerinize sağlık.

Teşekkürler arkadaşım Bayram
thank you my dearest friend for sharing this beautiful image with us on TrekNature!!

I have not seen this bird before - and I understand Asbeds excitement about this wonderful dedication!

In our part of the world we see frequently and hear lots of Hadeda Ibis Bostrychia hagedash, and early in the morning or late in the evening the drive all dogs in the neibourhood crazy with their loud chorus!

Each of your three photos are presented with perfect photographiv technique, and it is a tru pleasure to view these three images.

Paylaşımın için çok teşekkürler!

It is wonderful to see these beauties in their habitat! I did not realise, they like lake shores...

Sevgili arkadaşım

Kendine iyi bak!

Selam ve sevgiler... Ingrid

Extraordinaria captura de un ave totalmente desconocida para mía.

Hello Bayram

Hello MF Prof. Bayram,
when I was inactive in TN last months, you have put up really good captures of exciting subject.
This ibis is definitely one of them.
Very well captured at its best pose and exact moment.
The colours and details are well defined.
Very beautiful and exciting indeed. Form the work you produced and the diligence you have indicated, you will definitely succeed in every field you involved. Nonetheless to say TN, it is going to be very exciting,
wonderful view and useful knowledge as always from you.

regards,
Foozi

Hi MF Bayram. I'm sure you are already with your family in London. This shot is beautiful with the wing spread. Asbed must have enjoyed birds shot and this one is excellent with fine details.

Jusni

Dear little brother,
A beautiful shot for my theme "Animals' Behavior"

We have also Glossy Ibis in South Africa (hadidah) though the proper name I can only provide, after somebody climbed my book shelves for the relevant book :-)
The one in your image is glorious, and you brought us every sharp detail in luminous colours.
Thanks for sharing.
Warm Greetings from the Tzaneen Dam in Limpopo, South Africa
