[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Argyronome laodice is medium-sized Nymaphalid butterfly. It appears once from June or July and can be seen until Septermber or October. In Japan this species is said to decrease seriously because of habitat loss. This species likes to open, sunny grassland where its foodplant (Viola spp.) grows. Adult butterfly often visits various flowers. This photo was taken in last July. This is the female butterfly because small silvery triangular spots are seen on the top of the upperside of both forewings. |
