I found this white patch Plain Tiger Butterfly at our garden, its look unusual, so I took several shot and this is one of them for our viewer. Thank you for visiting.

The Plain Tiger (Danaus chrysippus) or - outside Asia - African Monarch is a common butterfly which is widespread in Asia and Africa. It belongs to the domain ("Crows and Tigers") subfamily of the brush footed butterfly family Nymphalidae.

It is believed to be one of the first butterflies to be used in art. A 3500 year old Egyptian fresco in Luxor features the oldest illustration of this species (Larsen 1994).

The Plain Tiger can be considered the archetypical domain of India. Accordingly, this species has been studied with in greater detail than other members of its subfamily occurring in India

Hello Samiran,
Very good image and good POV that does not require too much DOF. Well done to have captured it with open wings. Pleasing colours and technically good. Best wishes.

Well Samiran Nandy, the 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED AF Zoom-Nikkor is not dedicated macro lens, or perhaps the focus has been placed on the leaf behind and we can see how tiny is the depth of field even at f/22! Remember, the lens will not perform well at extremely close apertures like this one due to process called Diffraction! I personally do not use my lenses above f/16!Good natural colors and simplicity!

Samiran Hello, beautiful image of this butterfly, great colors and composition pity that there is some 'shake-probably caused by the lack of tripod, otherwise it would have been a spectacular image. Hello Paul
