[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note [Portuguese] |
Orchids are all plants that make up the orchid family, belonging to the order Asparagales, one of the largest families of plants exist. They present very many and varied shapes, colors and sizes and exist in all continents except Antarctica, mostly in tropical areas. Mostly epiphytic orchids grow on trees, using them only as support for the light, they are not plant pests, feeding on decaying material just falling from the trees and builds up to become entangled with their roots. They find many ways to play: in nature, mainly by dispersal of seeds in cultivation but by dividing clumps.
This orchid is part of the orchid collection of the ESALQ /USP Brazil
