Thanks to Cuckooroller for giving the correct ID. Really appreciate his confirmation.

The White-bellied Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus leucogaster), also known as the White-breasted Sea Eagle, is a large diurnal bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. It is closely related to Sanford's Sea Eagle of the Solomon Islands, and the two are considered a superspecies. A distinctive bird, the adult White-bellied Sea Eagle has white head, breast, under-wing coverts and tail. The upper parts are grey and the black under-wing flight feathers contrast with the white coverts. The tail is short and wedge-shaped as in all Haliaeetus species. Like many raptors, the female is slightly larger than the male.

Resident from India and Sri Lanka through southeast Asia to Australia on coasts and major waterways, the White-bellied Sea Eagle breeds and hunts near water, and fish form around half of its diet. It is opportunistic, and also consumes carrion and a wide variety of animals. Although rated of Least Concern globally, it is vulnerable to human disturbance in its habitat and has declined in southeastern Australia. It is ranked as threatened in Victoria, and vulnerable in South Australia and Tasmania. The White-bellied Sea Eagle is revered by indigenous people in many parts of Australia, and the Solomon Islands, and is the subject of various folk tales.some Brahminy Kites have been reported at elevations in the Himalayas in excess of 5,000 feet (about 1,500 m).

These birds generally forage for their prey by surveying the territory from flight elevations of 65 to 165 feet (about 20 to 50 meters) above land and sea. The primary sources of prey for a Brahminy Kite include a variety of dead animals, especially fish and crabs. These birds have also been known to fish for live food from a high altitude by dipping into the surface of the water during precise nosedives in order to catch fish. On some occasions, Brahminy Kites will even steal food from other airborne birds of prey, such as the Osprey and the Australian White Ibis.

Hello Foozi,

that's a long time ago!
An nice shot from this Kite with good pov and sharpness.
Fine colors.

Gert

Hi Foozi,
The ID is incorrect. This is not Brahminy Kite.

The tail conformation is wrong; the underwing is wrong; the bill is too strong.

This is an immature Haliaeetus leucogaster (White-bellied Sea Eagle). Cf.: http://orientalbirdimages.org/search.php?p=6&Bird_ID=874&Bird_Family_ID=&pagesize=1

Hi Foozi,

The inclusion of the bird in the background is helping to frame the scene and giving a sense of depth. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the White-bellied Sea Eagle. The late morning light is making the colors to standout. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hello Foozi,

A fine in-flight capture of this bird of prey!
A pleasant composition, with the blurry bird in the back to give emphasis to the main subject...
The movement is perfectly frozen, sharp fine details!
