wonderful and mighty with good DOF.
This is one of my favorite insects - and I'm so glad - I must tell you - today I have seen one of them infront of me, very close - I have never seen one before, only the small demamsel-flies. And I had my camera with me - photo coming soon on TN. I'm so happy and want to share this with you, cause I know you understand. Thanks a lot for your pretty photo

Very good one Jaap. These are wonderfull to shoot.
SApecially the close up of the eyes.
I also made a whole range.
Any idea why they sit with the wings forward?
I think you sharpened too much. Try one time only to sharpen the outlines, that is one of the PS. possibilities.

Nice shot Jaap! You've captured this Sympetrum well, I'm particularly impressed that you managed to use a tripod with a dragonfly since they're usually far too skittish for that... Focus is spot on, a bit more DOF would have been nice - but you're at the limits of your hardware so there wasn't anything you could do there. About the only thing I notice are a few apparent artifacts, if I didn't know better I'd say they were JPEG artifacts exaggerated by low radius USM - but that would be strange since you shot in RAW... Anyway that's only a minor nit - it's a good capture :-D

Jaap, this is a very fine first attempt with your new "toys".
I don't have this close-up lens, but I can see the result is very good.
Great pov, sharpness and composition. I like the vivid colors too.

Great job with your new toy, Jaap. The macro is very sharp displaying great details. What is the dragonfly resting on? Just curious.
Very nice job :-)

The focus on the eyes is great and the colors are very nice. Good position and POV. Composition is also very good. I have one nit and that is the very bright overexposed straw ... it's distracting me from the wonderful scene. TFS!

Nice shot Jaap!
There is some noise on the photo, but that's not distracting at all. Shot has very good POV and composition and nice lighting.
I think it would've been good to clone-out the overaxposed grass blade on the left side of the photo - it's quite distracting.
Overall, very interesting post.
WELL DONE & TFS

Good work Jaap.
The BG has to much visual informations,IMHO. It is distacking my glance from the dragonfly.
It is a nice shot with your new equipment. I look forward to see more.

Very fine depth of field here Jaap. It looks slightly oversharpened, exposing some artifacts here and there, but what a great point of view. A very lovely, intriguing insect.
