[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an Arrowhead Spider, Verrucosa arenata, a small orb-weaving spider found in hardwood forests of the eastern United States in summer along with related spiders in the Micrathena genus. The females (this one is a female) spin orb webs that are at just the right height to end up in the face of nature photographers. ;-)

Her web is typically re-spun every morning after removing the previous day's web prior to dawn.

Hello John,
Great close-up of this pretty little Arrowhead Spider. There is no doubt about how it got it's name. Such a beautiful specimen and captured in fine detail and color. Very interesting notes also. Wonderful DOF and just the right exposure. Well done!!
I remember taking a shot of one of these guys about two yeears ago, but the image didn't turn out like I had hoped it would, so I never posted it. I didn't know what type of spider it was until now.
