This Timber Wolf looks like he could be Manyee's dog's brother, but this fellow is all wolf. A beautiful example of the domesticated dog's ancestry (if you subscribe to that theory of doggie evolution).

Just like his packmate, he is part of a wolf rescue in Northern California. Information on the timber wolf can be seen on my other post.

I realize that is some overexposed areas by the paw, but I couldn't get rid of it and keep the paw :(

I really thought the smirk on his face was priceless. I've seen this expression on my shepard when she has outwitted me LOL

Work has kept me away for awhile and will likely continue to do so, but I plan on continuing participating in this wonderful community as often as I can. I feel like I miss so many exceptional photos and learning opportunities,so I'll make the effort :-)

Wow, this wolf looks like a dog. Great capture of this big animal. You are lucky to have seen him!

Hi Cathy, if you use Photoshop, you can lose the over exposed burnt out parts by cloning a similar area of correctly exposed fur over it with a soft brush on a low opacity. This way it adds a hint of texture, but retains the brightness of the highlight area. Just an idea! Nice portrait of this beautiful animal!

Hi Cathy,
Excellent portrait!
Very sharp and detailed image, great colour.
TFS!

Hi Cathy,
Beautiful portrait....he looks so cuddly, but I don't think I'd like to get too close!! Great detail and a lovely dark background which sets his colouring off perfectly. Catchlight nicely caught in his eye too. It's special. Well done.
Warm wishes, Vicky

Haawi says... Woooh.... Wooooh.... : )
What a beautiful portrait of that wolf! Wonderful expression indeed.
The details are very sharp and give him such a rich coat of fur. I think the light is perfect, and the dark BG brings out his colors very well.
Well done and TFS this gorgeous animal. : )

HI Cathy,
Nice shot.
I too like the expression on his face.
I love his eyes.
Nice work
:)

Very good portrait, Cathy.
The pose and expression are very nice.
Good details and colours.
Well done.

Superb shot Cathy!
He looks a bit like one of my dogs (I have three). When you see such cute animal you begin to think that the 'wolf ancestor' theory may to be very probable.
Photo is lovely. Has perfect framing and superb dark colours.
I like it very much.
WELL DONE & TFS

Beautiful portrait Cathy. I don't think the areas around the paws are really overexposed, but I do think you should kept more space under the paws. Colors are great, bg is nice, details are sharp. TFS!

Regards,
Pieter
