|i found this bird in Chintamani Kar Bird Sanctuary, which is a 15 minutes drive from my place. fortunately. :)|
i had been after this particular type of woodpecker for last many months.. since i first saw it, somewhere else, but couldn't capture properly due to harsh sunlight focusing on to my lens.
this bird is not very common in our place. the greater flameback woodpecker is a common view here.
anyway, i just love this picture. it may not be 'perfect' regarding 'photography', but this picture is close to my heart for i could capture a special cute moment then. the bird was itching its head. :)

Well, the angle is very bad for identification purposes, however, this is a male Picus xanthopygaeus.
