[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Six-spotted Tiger Beetle, Cicindela sexguttata, a common insect in this are, often seen on woodland trails as they run rapidly about in seek of prey. They're fierce hunters who run their prey down and devour it alive.

They're a bright, iridescent green with typically six white spots (although the number of spots is variable, this one had eight) really beautiful if you can get a close look at one, but that isn't easy as they tend to fly if you get too close. This one, for some reason, let me shove my camera right into its face.

Hello John,
this is a lively shot showing the beauty of this green and metallic beetle. This beetle is pretty difficult to composed due to its color, as I had that experience. you did well in giving a clear and sharp view with dramatic shining eye. the details are splendid especially the thorns on the legs.
Very attractive and well presented.

Hello John,
Great close up of this beautiful Six-spotted Tiger Beetle. The unique features of these gorgeous iridescent insects are easily seen in fine detail. Attractively composed with nice DOF. They have some really large eyes for their size.
As you stated, they are extremely fast, and you hardly ever get fortunate enough to capture one in a close shot such as this. Super work!!
PS. I will send you a photo that I took this summer of what I think is the same species, but not 100% positive.
