[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cooper's Hawk-Among the bird world’s most skillful fliers, Cooper’s Hawks are common woodland hawks that tear through cluttered tree canopies in high speed pursuit of other birds. You’re most likely to see one prowling above a forest edge or field using just a few stiff wingbeats followed by a glide. With their smaller lookalike, the Sharp-shinned Hawk, Cooper’s Hawks make for famously tricky identifications. Both species are sometimes unwanted guests at bird feeders, looking for an easy meal (but not one of sunflower seeds).

Hi, Bill
This is a very nice image of this raptor intently watching for prey and not at all distracted by the photographer. Attractive, warm lighting and a nice "glint" to the eye really makes the bird stand out in the picture. However, the subject is an adult red-tailed hawk, rather than a Cooper's.
Regards, Nigel.

Ciao Bill, great capture of superb hawk, fine details, wonderful natural colors and splendid sharpness, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Excellent, bright photo with very good detail.
Good depth of field giving good detail everywhere.
Nicely poised against a blue background. Good rich colours.

what a great shot, this made me smile. Loved seeing the wind through his feathers and "fluffy" capture, amazing how you were able to get this as I am sure it was balancing on this tree top! Just awesome

Hi Bill. I love the golden colour tones to this bird. You've got great focus on the eye. The DOF is such that the whole birds in focus. I like the green branches as well. They bring out the birds colours well. Beautiful to see Bill. TFS Trevor

Hello Bill,
I believe Nigel is right, this looks like a Red-tailed Hawk to me too. Coopers are more stream lined and their tails are longer. Their wing and head plumage is usually grayish tan in color.
Still a very attractive capture and showing exceptional detail and well saturated colors. Love the intense look on his face. Wonderful composition and great pose. Well done!!
Ron

Hello Bill,
This is a wonderful shot. On the spot focus. The sunlight that casted on the Cooper's Hawk makes this picture special. Very well done.
