Was blessed to capture this beauty this week! He flitted and flirted, finally landed and TADA!!!! Captured in butterfly world and so thankful FINALLY got him! Have them on film yet as soon as they land find they close immediately, held my breath and got this beauty SECONDS before he closed shut for the day

When the blue morpho butterfly flies, the contrasting vibrant blue and bland brown colors flash, making it look like its turning off and on.

The males’ wings are lengthier than those of the females and appear to be brighter in the sunlight. Blue morphos, like their relatives also have clubbed antennas, two fore wings and two hind wings, six legs and three body segments — the head, thorax and abdomen

Blue morphos live in the tropical forests of Latin America from Mexico to Colombia. Adults spend most of their time on the forest floor and in the lower shrubs and trees of the understory with their wings folded. However, when looking for mates, the blue morpho will fly through all layers of the forest. Humans most commonly see morphos in clearings and along streams where their bright blue wings are most visible.

What a beauty, one of the most spectacular butterflies of the world,no doubt. And what a magnificent pic in a difficult light, the wings position is perfect to have the total details, great colors too...a great gift to the butterflies fans like me.Have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

There you are, Brenda, and what a shot, my friend!
The Morpho is literally glowing, radiating out some kind of light, as it were. I think this is the best from you camera thus far.
Keep it going and all the best!

Awesome shot Brenda!!
Your right about them closing their wings immediately when they land, I found out while trying to photograph one while in Branson. This is a great shot which shows their gorgeous iridescent blue wings. Love the detail and fine exposure. Definitely a winner in my book!!!

Hello Brenda,
Great photo of this Blue Morpho with open wings. You were very lucky. I've seen them many times in the wild and in butterfly houses, but was never able to photograph them with open wings. Fantastic colours and a very good centred composition.

Hi Brenda,

This is one of the most spectaculair butterflies. The wings are really vibrant blue and I can imagine you felt very lucky that day. The soft light and the natural colors are impressive.

Hello Brenda,
I have visited your gallery and saw that you have improved a lot during the last 3 month. This one is a fantastic example of your improvement. It's not just the choice of a marvellous butterfly, it's also the technical quality with very good sharpness and wonderful colours.
Best wishes and Happy Easter,
