Here is another colourful spring picture of a Large Cabbage White seen in the school garden. The picture was taken hand-held with my Canon compact camera from a distance of about 2 metres.

The Large White, (Pieris brassicae), also called Cabbage Butterfly, Cabbage White, or the Large Cabbage White in India, is a butterfly in the family Pieridae.

Appearance

The wings are white, with black tips on the forewings of both males and females, the female also has two black spots on each forewing. The underside is a pale greenish and serves as excellent camouflage when at rest. The black markings are generally darker in the summer brood. Its wingspan is 5 to 6.5 cm.

Hello, what beautiful color. I use the same camera that you do and this photo really shows that good photos can come from it. The composition is excellent and the light that you captured really illuminates the butterfly.
Great job. TFS,
Karen

Hello Ram,
Lovely flowers you get in spring in Jammu which the Large White seems to enjoy too! I like the sharp details and wonderful colours of both butterfly and flowers. A pleasing composition too.
Here it's cold again and we had snow this morning! Ugh!
TFS and kind regards, Ulla

THIS IS SO VIBRANT..and speaks the Easter Season to me..wow..breathtaking

Hi Ram,
Without the B'fly this would be a lovely flower shot. But with the B'fly it became even better. I love the vibrant colors combined with the warmth of the light. Good control on both exposure and depth.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Mr. Ram,

Incredible color gamut - I like it even the colors seem a bit oversaturated and the photo has a small red / magenta overcast. No doubt the scene's wonderful, but the focus was set rather on the blue flower at the left corner, not on the b-fly - you needed to oversharpen the b-fly's upper wing, for example (which resulted a visible halo around it). Depth of field could be better, too.

My overall conclusion is "Large Cabbage White" is not your best photo, although, of course, not bad at all. The color of the smiley given is compared to your high standard (and my critique is a critique of a photo, nothing personal).

Best regards, László

Hallo Ram
What a pleasant image to look at and appreciate for its fine qualities and beautiful colours. You have captured everything beautifully, and the whole image has such a lot of happiness that surrounds it, but as you must know me by now I think the purple colour of the one flower is the prettiest of all. I like it very much. Thanks for sharing. Best regards.
Anna
