Hello dear friends and visitors!
Today I have this beautiful stone to share with you.

Smoky or Smokey quartz is a brown to black Variety of quartz.One of the most brilliant of all the dark stones. Like Other quartz gems, it is a silicon dioxide crystal. The smoky color results from free silicon, silicon dioxide formed from the natural by irradiation.. Presents often inclusions of asbestos, chlorite, tourmaline.Wikipedia
This one here was found in the backlands of Paraiba ( Junco do Serindó).This stone has not been polished.

Hello aNa,
You may recall that I once mentioned that your camera is very suited to macro's and close-ups and you prove it here. Yes, the colour of smoky quartz is caused by radioactivity that damaged its atomic structure. There possibly is an occurrence of uranium in the backlands of Paraiba. It is special for me because I once recognised the presence of uranium by observing the damaged structure of quartz in the environment, but that is a story on its own. You may also recall that I once mentioned that it is not very easy to show minerals in a photo with the same brilliance that they radiate in reality. You have succeeded very well here. Best wishes.
