“Take Off”- the Lesser Whistling Duck ( Dendrocygna javanica) also known as Indian Whistling Duck or Lesser Whistling Teal is a species of whistling duck that breeds in Asia and one of the most common migratory bird of West Bengal.This picture was taken at Purbasthali(Chupi) in Burdwan district of the state West Bengal, India, 120 kms north from Kolkata.Purbasthali lies on the banks of a large oxbow lake created by the river Ganges. |
