[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Formerly known as Lloydia rubroviridisthis, it is now considered a species of Gagea. Whereas most Gagea species are yellow, this one is whitish with some red added. This flower of higher elevations is extremely rare in Israel. In the WS you can see how it grows from cracks in weathered rocks. The diameter of the flower is about 10 mm.

In case you were wondering about the strange name, Gagea is named after Sir John Gage, a British naturalist (1781-1820).

Hello Ishi,
Interesting posting of this "new" Gagea-species from Mt. Hermon. Our species are yellow too. Fine diagonal presentation with good sharpness.I didn't know that the name comes from Sir John Gage.
Kind regards
Anne
