[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This species was for a long time - about half a century - missing in our area.
However, in spring 2012 several specimens were sighted and I had the luck to observe also one.
This means that we have a reinvasion of the Ruhr-district and of adjacent areas.

The species is
- Nymphalis polychloros
- family: Nymphalidae

English: Large Tortoiseshell
German: Großer Fuchs

- Cloudy, insufficient light
- Therefore a shutter speed of only 1/30 sec
- handheld

hallo Peter
very nice shot with good details and lovely naturel colours
thanks greeting lou

Hallo Peter,
